Former Talking Head David Byrne (favorite lyric: "Animals think... They're pretty smart... Shit on the ground... See in the dark!") is releasing a new album called Here Lies Love.The 2 CD release is a concept album Byrne worked on with techno/electronica whiz Norman Cook, AKA Fatboy Slim.
Rolling Stone's review describes the album this way:
Here David Byrne turns an unwieldy premise — a musical dramatization of former Philippines first lady Imelda Marcos' early life — into dizzy fun by setting 22 songs to Fatboy Slim's lush and bustling dance beats.The record, featuring guest vocalists like Cyndi Lauper, Steve Earle, Natalie Merchant of 10,000 Maniacs and Kate Pierson of the B52s, has been a five-year labor of love for Byrne. This lengthy review/feature delves into the long journey this music has taken to its planned CD release April 6th.
